Facets
A book of medium size, bound in plain light leather. Inside it are the words, written in a clear hand, "This book belongs to Topaz."

Wyf Broadskull, before the eyes of the gods and the people of Valorn, I promise, swear, vow, and affirm to you that you are my love, and I am your bondmate forever. I will be beside you in adventure, and at your back in danger or darkness. My heart, my life, and my honor are forever in your keeping.

I said those words a year ago today. A lot has happened since then -- but nothing has changed.

A Ballad of Kimald

A realm there was and far away,
a peaceful flowering land and green;
Sunrifter's light upon it lay,
on cities fair and fields serene.

In streets and squares the happy throngs
would gather on a market day,
and through the night were heard the songs
from tavern doors along the way.

A skilled enchanter ruled the land,
the good and honest Lenindar,
with staff and scepter in his hand,
loved by his people near and far.

His royal palace, pearly white,
had stood since ancient times gone by.
Above its towers, proud and bright,
the dragon banner waved on high.

Alas! this peace was not to last,
for darkness covered sun and star,
and all Kimald beheld, aghast,
the evil might of Balthazar.

They strove against the Demon Lord,
but, striving, still were doomed to fail;
their courage, strength and strong accord
against his hordes could not prevail.

Yet from the ruins of lost Kimald
the Remants rose in strong array,
and here in Valorn soon were called
to meet the Dark Lord in the fray.

As seeds arise which died in earth,
and from their seeming death increase,
so grew a guild from painful birth
to strong defense of Valorn's peace.

Therefore as one they stand to meet
the evil foe, and will not yield
in face of threats or of defeat:
Kimald remains to hold the field.

With weapon drawn or open hand,
to battle or to friendship called,
their name is known throughout the land:
the noble Remnants of Kimald.
